From feed to issue

A small program checks the public feeds listed below every hour and collects new headlines. An AI model (Llama 3.1 8B on Cloudflare Workers AI) sorts each story into a section, rates how useful it is likely to be, and writes a first-pass summary.

Each week's issue is then drafted with the help of Claude, checked against the original sources, and reviewed and approved by a human editor before anything is published.

  • Summaries are short and written in our own words. We don't republish articles.
  • Every item links to its original source, so you can read the full story there.
  • Security items name the CVE or advisory ID when the source gives one.

About our feed reader

Our feed reader identifies itself as WordsInTheWindBot/1.0 (+https://wordsinthewind.ca/about). It requests each feed a few times a day at most, stops reading once it has the newest items, and for stories without a description it reads only the page's<head> to find its summary text.
